Blogging Goes Mobile
Wouter Van Dyck

Mobile blogging is a brand new phenomenon that has quit unnoticed entered the blogosphere. One of the reasons that the blogging community is interested in blogging is that there able to make frequent updates and postings that keep their fellow bloggers up to date with their current situation. Mobile blogs or ‘moblogs’ take this to the extreme by allowing their users to post things when there not in front of there PC. The difference between moblogging and regular blogging is that you use your phone or pocket pc to post on your blog. Those new mobloggers keep the internet community up to date with events of importance that occur all over the world, making international communication a lot faster. Moblogging has a brief but exiting History, you can read more about it at my blog
Lot of people feel that the limitations of blogging have a lot to do with geography. After all, there is only so current that a blog can be when you need to run home to your PC in order to post on your blog. However, mobile blogging marks the beginning of a thrilling new era when web-based communication can happen spontaneously from any location. There is almost no place on the planet that remains off-limit for moblogging.
Mobile blogging is still in its infancy because the technology that makes it possible has only recently hit the global market. The first moblog technology became available over a decade ago, but it is only the past two or three years that mobile web devices have become user-friendly enough to appeal to most consumers. Current mobloggers rely on email and SMS to submit blog post or entries. Usually some kind of script responds to an incoming email or SMS message to create a new blog entry.
As camera phones and other mobile technology become more popular, more and more bloggers are getting away from their desks and are hitting the streets. However, if moblogging has a future on mobile devices , it will most likely succeed on devices that have more sophisticated input possibilities than a numeric keyboard alone. The last months moblogging is becoming more and more widespread than a year ago, and the mobloggers are quickly attracting a lot of attention from the blogging community. It’s a bit early to say if moblogging will become the most popular kind of blogging, but we can say beyond a doubt that moblogging is here to stay.
The reason why moblogging has such a potential to revolutionize the blogosphere is that mobile blogging makes it possible to blog from the sites where current events are unfolding. A blogger with a mobile camera phone can post pictures from, say the foot of the podium of a Rolling Stones performance, or from the stands during the final moments of the world series. This enables bloggers to experience the same real time thrills that live television coverage provides, but in a more democratic medium. The combination of mobility and individual control that moblogging provides certainly places mobloggers on the cutting edge of today's communications technology, and it is hard to imagine that the number and prestige of moblogs will not continue to grow in the coming years.
